일본판 오프닝. 곡명은 Sonic - You can do anything이다. 첫 번째 동영상은 소닉 CD에 수록된 버전이고, 두 번째는 소닉 잼에 수록된 버전이다. 소닉 잼에 수록된 버전은 흔히 재녹음 버전으로 알려져 있었으나 더 커팅 룸 플로어 측에서 게임 개발 초기에 사용된 음원과 소닉 잼에 수록된 음원이 같은 것임을 확인함에 따라 소닉 CD에 수록된 음원이 재녹음 버전인 것으로 밝혀졌다.

 

북미판 오프닝. 곡명은 Sonic Boom이다.

애니메이션 제작은 토에이 애니메이션이 맡았다.여담으로 메가 CD판의 영상은 시스템의 한계상 사용된 색상이 적고, 일부 장면이 삭제되었으며, 프레임과 해상도가 매우 낮다.현재 유튜브 등에서 많이 찾아볼 수 있는 고화질 오프닝은 소닉 잼에 특전으로 수록된 버전 혹은 2011년 HD 리메이크 버전이다.

오프닝 애니메이션에 등장한 소닉의 디자인은 팬들 사이에서 '토에이 소닉'이라는 별칭으로 불리며, 소닉 더 헤지혹(OVA)에서도 사용된다. 여담으로 OVA에 나오는 액션 신 중에는 소닉 CD의 오프닝 장면에 나온 액션과 비슷한 액션이 나오기도 한다.
